On January 9, 2025, the Bektemir District Court reviewed the criminal case against X, who was charged under Part 4 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The case involved allegations that X, diagnosed as HIV-positive since 2017, knowingly failed to inform his wife of his condition before entering into marriage on November 25, 2023. She was later diagnosed with HIV in August 2024 during a medical examination before childbirth.
During the trial, X fully admitted to the charges and expressed remorse. The court considered mitigating factors, including his lack of prior convictions, his role as the primary provider for his family, and the fact that the victim had no claims against him. Based on this, the court sentenced X to four years of restricted freedom rather than imprisonment. He is required to remain at his registered address during designated hours and comply with probationary conditions.
The verdict allows for appeal within ten days.
