Belgorod man received a prison sentence for infecting two women with HIV
A man infected two women with the virus, although he knew about his status. He was warned about possible criminal prosecution by doctors. Despite this, the resident of the region ignored the warnings of doctors, for which he went to prison, reports the Oktyabrsky district court.
A Belgorod resident accused of infecting two people with the virus was sentenced. In 2008, the man became aware of his disease. Doctors warned him about possible responsibility for infecting other people. However, the patient ignored the doctors’ warnings. The defendant did not inform the women with whom he had unprotected sexual relations about his diagnosis.
As the court noted, the man “counted on chance” and “showed criminal recklessness”. The court reliably established that the defendant had infected two women. The man himself admitted guilt.
The Belgorodian was sentenced to 1.5 years for infecting two people with HIV infection (part 3 of article 122 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He will serve the punishment in a penal colony.

Мужчина заразил вирусом двух женщин, хотя о своём статусе он знал. О возможном уголовном преследовании его предупреждали медики. Несмотря на это, житель региона проигнорировал предупреждения врачей, за что отправился в колонию, сообщает Октябрьский райсуд.
Белгородца, обвиняемого в заражении вирусом двоих человек, осудили. В 2008 году мужчине стало известно о своём заболевании. Врачи предупредили его о возможной ответственности за заражение других людей. Однако пациент предупреждения медиков проигнорировал. Женщинам, с которыми у него были незащищённые половые связи, обвиняемый о своём диагнозе не сообщал.
Как отметили в суде, мужчина «рассчитывал на авось» и «проявил преступное легкомыслие». Суд достоверно установил, что подсудимый заразил двух женщин. Вину признал и сам мужчина.
За заражение двоих человек ВИЧ-инфекцией (ч. 3 ст. 122 УК РФ) белгородца осудили на 1,5 года. Наказание он будет отбывать в колонии-поселении.
